My Mom died last Monday after a long and fearless battle with illness and poor health. She was at peace with the ending of her life and had all her loved ones nearby as we said our good-byes. I made this card in her memory, a wreath of flowers and leaves seems fitting as she told a chaplain at the hospital her Higher Power was nature. I thank all of you who sent her many beautiful raks over these last years and we had such joy examining them and discussing each card's virtues and unique qualities, colors and techniques and artistry! As well as examining the postmarks which came from as far away as Ireland and Canada.
It was her wish to have donations made to the food bank in lieu of flowers, so may I ask those who might send a sympathy card to me to instead throw a can of soup in that bin in the grocery store which collects for the local hungry? I thank you all for looking and embrace the SCS community as part of my loving family.

How lovely, Nancy Ruth! What a beautiful tribute you to Mother. My sincerest sympathies. There is no one like our mother in our lives! It sounds like you had a VERY loving relationship and may that give you comfort. My thoughts are with you....and I will put that extra can into the barrel at the grocery store and have a special thought about you and your mother.

I am so very sorry that you have had to say good bye to your dear mother - this card honors her in a very beautiful way, it's so serene and so lovely. Knowing nothing can really ease the pain of such a loss, I hope knowing many are thinking of you is a small comfort.

This is absolutely gorgeous and a wonderful tribute to your mom Nancy Ruth! I will remember your mom at our Yizkor service on Yom Kippur this week. And as we always donate food to the Food Bank at this time of year (and other times) I will put some extra in in your mom's honor.
Hugs, Harriet
