Summer has flown and I am so far behind with the SCS challenges I was going to do that I can no longer recall which ones they were. You could say our summer took a sideways turn the day our basement flooded...
I have been trying to catch up on the QFTD challenges though and managed to make a few cards to honour some of the recent "recipients of the crown". Still have my list of the other SCS royalty that I haven't managed to CASE yet...
A very special great-aunt of mine recently passed away - she was 96 and her funeral was more of a celebration of a wonderful life than a sad occasion. She will be dearly missed by the entire family so I made seven different cards - one for each of her children.
The QFTD24 honour went to my "nearly a neighbour" and fellow Canuck peggy-sue. One of these days I'll find my way to her stamping place/safe haven. I actually chose two of Peggy-Sue's cards for inspiration. This one is a CASE of her Quick Embossed Butterfly card. I won't put 'quick' in my title because of all that fussy-cuttin'! I coloured the images, overstamped with versamark and clear embossed before cutting them out. Layered them with dimensionals. Used a MS PATP sponged with Certainly Celery as the backdrop. Loved the way this turned out.
PT: 2 punches for that fun PATP border. What fun!

This is equally beautiful! How sweet you've opted to make a card for each of your aunt's children. I have to tell you, I dont see funerals as a sad occasion, but rather as a celebration of one's life.

How beautiful! Gorgeous work on the butterfly and flowers. The punched layer is certainly a perfect backdrop for them.
Hope you have recovered from the basement flooding.

Heather, I'm sorry you had to have a sympathy card but this one is sooooo pretty. I'm sure you spent plenty of time doing the cutting but
it is worth it. I see that I may be off the hook a bit as you seemed to have used a new patp. Say it is so!!! LOL

I just love the way you made this card. I came looking for inspiration to help me make a card fro a friend whose Grandma has just passed, and I think this might be it. I am sorry to hear you lost your own great-aunt. Take care.

Diz, Diz, Diz - YOU'RE BACK!!! You didn't put the sunglass lady on your avatar - you know, our "secret code" so how was I supposed to know where you were? Looks like you're making up for lost time. I have this set and have seen beautiful cards with it, but I don't think I've used it yet. My gosh, I'm in LOVE with yours. The colors are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and I love your PATP. So, a wee bit of cutting, huh? You did an incredible job and what a great thing to do for your aunt's children. TFS!

Ohh that's very beautiful, Heatherz!! Sorry to hear about what difficult summer you have had ! Great punching around the corner!!! Just bought a new punch today myself!!!
Lovely sympathy card - I like them so much more when the are colourful, rather than very sombre cards. Difficult to make -but you've done a fabulous job!
