My page is for LauraÂ’s masking digi challenge this week. The photo is one of my favorite pics of my older DGD and me taken four years ago at my birthday dinner. SheÂ’s eight now (and IÂ’m a little older too-wink!)
The challenge was to create a blended photo outside of the frame using a mask. Laura provided a tutorial which I followed and printed out to use again. I had fun with this and want to try another page with a photo of my younger DGD.
The aqua background paper started out with the shadowy round-topped flowers and I added layers with the purple, stemmed flowers. I then followed LauraÂ’s tutorial (provided in her DGC056 post) for the photo and blending outside. The little butterflies around the edge of the photo were done with a brush/stamp I had that I discovered while playing with the stamp tool! (Experimenting is another way to learn!)
Once I was happy with the photo technique, I added the purple flowers around the edge of the frame, the petals in the air, re-designed the layout of the Word Art (started out as one line, I used the rect. marquee tool to cut and paste), and added the two butterflies on the page.
I added shadows to most of the elements and reduced the opacity on several items to keep it soft looking.

Wendy, your page is so beautiful, soft and feminine. I like the way it makes the center of the photo stand out, great photo, too! All your little touches add together to make this such a treasure. Thank you so much for sharing all the different techniques you used to create this lovely page. I can't wait to see the next one.
