As soon as I saw this Circus Bloom plaque on the Pink Taffy site this morning, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. It's not my style at all, either, but I really enjoyed making this. I don't use Rose in Winter enough; I got it unmounted and I stress about lining it up right, so that sometimes I've thought of mounting it. But now I've decided there isn't a *right* way to line it up .
I took a 5" square of card left from my tent card yesterday, and sponged the black stripes on with Soot Black, and then added spots with a marker. I stuck it onto a 5 3/4" base. I cut 4 1" strips of Basic Grey, cut scallops along them, inked the edges with Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo and stuck them on the base. If it weren't that I'd glued them which would be hard to sew through, I'd have stitched them, so I settled for drawing stitching lines.
Circle was stamped with the sentiment, embossed with Stylized flowers, edges sponged with green. In fact I did also lightly sponge the raised embossing with Antique Linen. The swirl is a Sizzix flourish. I stamped the roses with Fired Brick on pink paper, cut them out, crumpled them slightly and curled the edges slightly. No point putting too much dimension in, as many of my cards go international as birthday or other RAKs, so they need to be easy to post. The leaves are Peeled Paint, sponged over with a little bit of Antique Linen.
