I came across Jan Tink's blog entry on creating woodgrain and decided the next card I created had to incorporate this awesome technique. It took me an extra day, but here it is, folks! If you saw this IRL you would swear it is real wood. Thank you, Jan, for sharing this technique on your blog:
So, I created the wood first and created the rest of the card around that. I actually used Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Cajun Craze and Bravo Burgundy, and Craft Vanilla to create the wood panel. I went for a bit of a masculine feel with rustic browns and a pop of Soft Sky, a little greenery. This sketch is great, but it does stress me out when I see all the layers.
I hope you like the final creation and will try this woodgrain technique for a card in the near future. Thanks for sending a few comments my way.
