I made this as a birthday card for my young niece. I wanted to try the emboss resist, and I also wanted to use the "Beautiful" Kanji from the SU Eastern Influences set.
I've never done the emboss resist. I like the result, but a few changes would have made it better. First, I overheated the embossing powder. My method is slightly dangerous, and I've only done much smaller stamped areas. I may have to invest in a heat gun.
Second, I used way to much ink. Daubing the ink pad on the paper, I ended up with inky hands. Sponge daubers or a large soft brush would have been better choices.
I cut out several strips of paper to build the torii gate. I especially like how that turned out. Inside, I stamped "Each one of us is God's special work of art. - Joni Erickson Tada" from SU's Words of Wisdom set.
Torii gates are used to mark the entrance to a sacred place. This card is a reminder that we are temples of the Holy Spirit, sacred and beautiful.
