For the challenge we are to use something from our home to get inspired and IÂ’m using the trellis outside our kitchen window and IÂ’ve also wanted to try one of these border punch cards and now seemed a good time to get inspired for it.
My card is much different but the idea to use the punch border this way came from ctorinaÂ’s card here. Thanks for the idea Cathleen!
-To make my punch I scored the cardstock, folded and made my first punch so it was spaced evenly on both sides of the score, I then worked out from each side. When closed itÂ’s a perfect match up. For me - I always have to line it up by looking at the bottom where the punch is actually made, squeeze enough to hold it and flip it over to finish lining up and then punch.
-Score pal was used to emboss the single line across between the black borders.
-The image panel was layered on black and mounted to the card. To get the outside black border I cut a 1/16” strip and glued it to the card.
-The images were stamped randomly and Prismacolor pencils, baby oil and paper stumps were used to color the flower and leaves using the Gamsol technique found in the resources section here at SCS. Baby oil replaces the Gamsol.
-I then used a VersaMark pen and filled in the flowers and leaves, poured on clear embossing powder and heated to create my resist.
-I tore a scrap paper in half and masked off the ground area to sponge on the two colors for the sky, then using the opposite torn piece I covered the sky to add the ground color with the lightest green then used a coarse sponge to add a little dark green for texture. You can see it if you look real close but it shows better in real life. The little area of white was intentional to act as the sliver of the sun setting.
Envelope: the same Prismacolor, emboss resist, masking and sponging techniques I used on the card were also done on the envelope.
