Here comes Memorial Day and in my family it is a pretty big deal. My mom works at a Veteran's Center here in Wisconsin and the members have become family to us. Last summer my son spent about 6 weeks visiting my parents and he went to work with his Gram every day. He volunteered his time with the Elderly members and became fast friends with a man named Clarence. Clarence has been asking about Alex and if Alex is coming down to visit again for the summer. He is going on 95 years old, he's still kicking, and I thought it was only fitting to send him something special from Alex for Memorial Day.
I was inspired by this card: Bleu Elements by OhMyInkyFingers at Splitcoaststampers for my layout. The image is a treehouse stamp digi that has been layered, then popped up on dimensionals on a matching image. The stars are glittery and the flag has a thin layer of paper glaze on it and if I had a good camera you could see that. Dp is from K&Company, sleepy tree seasonal stack. This fits the challenge for buttons and ribbon. I used a star shaped brad to dress up my sentiment. I colored the image using colored pencils and baby oil.

I LOVE the patriotic colors that you used.. and that background paper looks like it jumps right off the page! I like the different textures/colors that you used for the ribbons, and I just adore those buttons! Everything works so nicely together! GREAT job!
