Hi! I made this card for todays CAS challenge, which was a sketch challenge.
I started out this morning with a completely different image and idea in my mind, but somehow I never could get the idea to look like I wanted it to. So I took a break for lunch, and remembered that I needed to make a sympathy card for someone in my church; her stepfather just died. I recently acquired the Amazing Grace Hymn from ODBD, and knew it would be perfect (the man who died and his stepdaughter were/are both members of the choir). I knew that a bird would be perfect also. So I began to create all over again....
The circle containing the bird (with the hymn as a background) came together quickly and easily. The background paper was easy to pick out. Then I pondered the strip across the card. What should I do? Hmmm... I decided to do a direct to paper swirl-smear of the 3 remaining colors used in the image. And that's how I got the strip across. Then I lightly distressed the circle with the bird, the background paper corners and the strip across. Stamped the sentiment and the card was completed.
Thanks for taking the time to take a closer look and have a blessed day!

Lovely use of this sketch. Your bird panel is so nicely colored and I love how you "smeared" coordinating ink to create that lovely strip behind it. Great job
