Speedy is getting a bad rap here. Far from sitting on a pile of laundry refusing to move here he is visiting a sick friend on his way to the watercoloring lessons! Yes he is! And no, he has NO designs whatsoever on the occupants of that birdhouse, especially since proportion-wise, considering the size of Speedy near the birdhouse, those birdies could arm wrestle him and win!
All fun aside, I made this for my middle daughter who not only is sick today, home from school, but also very sad because our cat disappeared yesterday. She likes to go outside on the porch in warmer weather, although she is an indoor cat, and we try to prevent it, but ever so often she slips out. This time she did not come home. There has been a fox in our backyard the past week too . . .putting two and two together does not make a happy outcome in this scenario. So I tried to color in the cat to look a wee bit like ours in the hopes this get well it might make her feel better.
Thanks for looking and I'm looking forward to tea at Faith's house!

Your birdhouse is so adorable! But, what a sad story about your cat. Hopefully, she will come home. This creation is sure to help your daughter. Hope she's better soon, too.

Ah, I hope that it's not a sad ending for your cat. My sister's reappeared after almost two weeks, and another friend had his turn up after even longer. But it's better not to be hoping, I suppose. I am sure your daughter will love this little birdhouse, it's so sweet. And yes, Speedy had better not take on any bird living in that, he'd come off the worse.
Mind you, my cat killed a couple of hens when she had kittens, and they were a good bit bigger than her!!

Oh Peggysue! I feel so badly for your whole household, and hope your kitty returns soon. Your little girl home sick today has to feel worse because of missing her cat. On the other hand, this birdhouse is adorable, and the birds must indeed be HUGE!! With best wishes to you both!!

Oh, I am sorry your cat is missing - but hopefully he is just hiding from the fox and will return home soon. Adorable bird house, and it's nice to see Speedy's gentler side.
