Note: I used two torn pieces of paper cut 4/25 x 5/5” ending up with four pieces and all four will be used to create the image panel.
-The sky background is created using alcohol inks. I cut a piece of felt with Nestabilites circle die, inked it up with butterscotch and placed it on the card and did a little twist with it to create my sun. The remainder of the sky is inked using the polished stone technique with two colors; cranberry and red pepper.
I had placed a torn piece of paper over the cardstock where I wanted the sky line to stop but itÂ’s only a guide and will not stop the alcohol ink from running under it and through it, so I did that area last when less ink is on the felt. The opposite piece of this torn paper is used to masked off the sky area and place half of the second piece of torn paper about an inch lower than the first mask, use the direct to paper technique with black StazOn and just smear it on until itÂ’s thick enough to cover any alcohol ink that ran under the paper.
-Remove both masks and put the opposite half of the second torn paper over the black area and rub brown StazOn onto the remainder of the panel with the same technique. Then use just the corner of the pad to add some interesting texture to the brown by streaking straight down in about ½” strokes.
-The cheetah image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and cut out. I ran a black marker along the edge of the cut out to cover the white so it blends with the background. I stamped just the hairs which go out of the main image (you can see them clearly on the envelope) and lined the cut out image to the stamped images and glued in place.
-The tree is a partial image stamped twice on the background.
-The layout is achieved by using up scrap cardstock for the three mustard strips. They were stamped and ink distressed.
Inside:
I always decorate inside the card but I keep it more on the simple side. This one is three strips of glossy cardstock taped together after they were inked with StazOn for the solid colors using the direct to paper technique and alcohol ink on the red using the polished stone technique. The tree is stamped off on scrap paper then stamped a second time on the card panel to keep it light in case handwriting needs to go over the top.
-The Faux brads are circles from a tag Cuttlebug die cut that I glue to the card then – the perfect brad every time! I use the CB die cut because it rounds the edges like a real brad. These are very easy to pick up with a straight pin dipped in glue then touch the back of the circle and it’ll pick it up, now place it on the card by pressing down with the finger – it will allow you to move if needed before the glue dries.
Tools: Cuttlebug and Tiny Tags die, corsage pin, stamp positioner
IÂ’ll use this for my sonÂ’s birthday card coming up in April.
Tools: felt and applicator, cutting scissors, paper stumps, torn paper, sponge, Nestabilites – circle die
