For today's Free 4 All Challenge, The Great White Way, to make a card inspired by a favorite musical and that the card MUST be any size and/OR shape that is NOT A2.
My all-time favorite musical is The Sound of Music (sorry, but I had to go with the movie version of this. My experience with live theatre has been very limited.) I've known the classic songs from this musical since I was wee little and have seen the movie countless times. Do you remember the scene where Maria pulls down the curtains in her governess quarters and makes them into "play clothes" for the children? I tried to pick a background paper with colors/patterns reminiscent of those curtains!
The other two papers are from the Basic Grey June Bug pad--I thought they coordinated pretty well with the background I'd already chosen and I thought that the overall 60s feel of the June Bug papers was a good fit with the 60s styling of The Sound of Music.
The bird stamp was as close to something musical as I could come up with. It's another one of my recent Michael's $1 bin finds. I just love this birdie and know I'll use him often! He's paper pieced with June Bug paper. The musical staffs were clipped from a vintage hymnal. Buttons rescued from Grandma's button tin. My square (nonstandard size) card measures 5" x 5".
Thanks for looking!!
Emily

Love your card! What a great idea to make it look 60-ish...it's just beautiful with all of the patterns. The addition of the notes is inspired....Love the Sound of Music; another musical where I could sing along to every song by heart!

Darling card! You translated the elements from the movie VERY well. Yes, I remember the "drape clothes"....almost as good as Scarlett O'Hara's "green drapes dress"! : 0 Love your little birdie...what a cute bargain!

fabulous Emily. I love your take on the challenge. what a cute paper pieced birdie. Our store doesn't seem to carry a lot of the dollar bin stamps. Or they have been the same ones forever. Great find, TFS
