Holly's challenge today was to evoke childhood memories.
My childhood home was on the shores of Lake Erie and this was THE lighthouse in my hometown. As a child, I thought a VERY lucky family got to live there. I always wanted to live there too. It seemed so special sitting in the lake and at night its bright beacon swinging around. My favorite memory though, was when the fog rolled in and its foghorn would make that melancholy sound. I LOVED it! Now with GPS and all the other technological advances in marine navigation, I doubt it makes that sound or shines its light. I really don't know if it is there any more, but I know many artists catured it in oils and watercolor. I have a little cast model to remind me.
Thanks to someone, quite awhile ago on SCS...I wish I could remember who, I found this stamp on-line. It is THE lighthouse! Thanks, to whomever you are! The stamp is a treasure to me.

What fabulous memories of this wonderful lighthouse!! I love the way you colored this image, and I really get the feel of the fog, water, and not the isolation. That part I would NOT enjoy!! TFS this fabulous story!!

Sallie this is fabulous! And how fortunate someone pointed you in the right direction and you got this stamp! I feel the same way about some of the lighthouse stamps I own. :-) The distressing looks wonderful. TFS you work of art and memory.

Sallie, what a wonderful story to go with your amazing card!! I love your brayer treatment, and all the extra little details you added with gel pen and X-acto knife. Your CAS layout, with just the hemp twine and button as accents, goes perfectly with your image.
I grew up in Ohio (although not near the lake), so I was intrigued by the history of this lighthouse. Was it the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater lighthouse? I found this interesting website with the light's history and current status (notice the most recent chapter in its life story!): http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=286
Anyway, wonderful work on this childhood memories challenge, Sallie!!!
