Inspirational Cards Sketch #57
Penny's Challenges: Green for St. Patty's Day
Recipe:
I made the green background by embossing a woodgrain pattern with the Fiskars texture plates. I chose the woodgrain, because everytime I think of a leprechaun I picture it in the woods! The plate was too small for my tall card so I had to emboss part of the paper and then move it up and emboss the rest. Because there would be a discrepancy in the design when I moved the paper, I made sure that that area would be under another layer on my finished card.
To create the gold paper I used 6 stamp sets and 2 individual stamps. I lined up a bunch of sayings and 4 leaf clovers on an acrylic block that would cover the entire area of the gold paper. Then I removed a couple of them to be used later. I inked up the remaining group in dark green and stamped them on the gold paper. Then I individually stamped the removed stamps in a lime green and filled in a couple of places with my individual wood stamps that I couldn't attach to the acrylic block.
To create the hat, I cut a rectangle and then embossed the edges of it using a large square nestability. It was tricky, but manageable! Then I stamped the hat in the center of the rectangle and went over it with sparkly clear embossing powder. Then I colored it and the edge in with green chalk. Lastly, I went over the buckle with a glue pen and some gold glitter.
The large clover was made by starting with a scalloped circle that was cut and embossed with Nestabilities. Then I stamped the image and went over it with embossing powder on the circle and on a scrap piece of paper. Then I colored the embossed edge of the circle with green chalk and adhered glitter to the leaves of the image on the circle and to the clover on the scrap piece of paper. Lastly, I cut out the clover and attached it over the one on the circle with pop dots.
Then I attached everything to the white base of the card. Hope you enjoy my version of a St. Patty's Day card!
