How nice that these challenges were combined today! The Teapot Challenge and today's Color Challenge work together quite well.
I think Aquilta's head will spin when she see's all the lovely entries for today! Just let her try and count all those stitches.
My mother used to collect fabric. She didn't make quilts with it, she made our clothes when we were little, but I know she still has a stash of fabric. I started collecting fabric when I was young and it really became a problem when I went to work part-time for the Rag Shop. Anyone remember the Rag Shop? Where you could get cheap calico fabric? I actually made a queen size quilt for less than $14 once upon a time.
I lost my sewing machine of 30 yrs. a couple of years ago. It's cracked gears were unreplaceable and I haven't sewn since. But I still use a lot of the tools from my "quilting days" in my card making. And now I think my stash of paper has surpassed my stash of fabric.
So here's my paper pieced lattice framed teapot. I hand drew the pot and rummaged through my stash for the remnants that made it.

Wow, your card is an amazing blend of the 2 challenges and you've captured Mother's theme so well with all the paper piecing, quilt block background, etc. This is bound to impress Chenille! :-) Great job!

OMG! I can tell you are a cardmaker extraordinaire ex-quilter sewing person by the looks of this card! It simply rocks! Your story made me think of my sisters mother in law...she is a fabric collecting crazy person...and I mean crazy person! She can't use her dishwasher because it has bolts and bolts, folded over pieces of fabric stashed in it cuz she simply can't find any more room to store it! Yikes!
Wouldn't a real quilt with that little teapot in the middle be the bomb! We will have to get ole whats-er-doodle Aquilta The Hun to whip one of these up.....that is after we whoop up on her in this challenge! Giggle! This is awesome Lorraine!
Did you hear about the teapotter who sewed her finger to her card? Yep, been sitting at the hospital for a few...she's okay, all she can talk about is getting back to party! Woot!

Wow! This is just wonderful. I love the lattice border. Wish I could applique' like that when I quilt...but I can't! The little teapot is wonderful. It's so fun to use those little scraps for things. I just can't bare to throw them away and this is the reason why. It's just the cutest!
