Wow! What a great choice for an inspiration challenge! I LOVE watching the ice skating events - they are so beautiful! The outfits of course are always spectacular so choosing just one to inspire me was a challenge! I ended up choosing this costume worn by Sarah Meier: http://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/97005258/AFP
The bright colours and swirls really caught my eye so I tried to include those elements in my card. The sketch from Karen Giron's Sunday Sketch this week came to mind as I thought of a way to get that lovely graduated look from yellow to orange to pink.
I layered the cardstock strips onto one another then embossed with the Baroque swirl using Ruby Red and Bravo Burgundy ink and some sparkly embossing powder (I inked the stamp with Versamark first, then the coloured ink). I then embossed the whole panel using the Cuttlebug manuscript embossing folder (seeing as the skaters have such wonderful music as their backdrop!).
The butterfly was stamped in Bravo Burgundy on Whisper White then sponged with Summer Sun and Cameo Coral ink. Sentiment is from Papertrey. I finished it off with some sheer white ribbon with a gold thread through it.
TFL!
