American Speed Skater, Dan Jansen is my favorite Winter Olympic Skater. He came in 4th place in the 1984 Olympics at age 18. Four years later, his sister died of leukemia the day before his first race. He fell during both races that year. It tore me up. You see, we're the same age, and both with family members with leukemia. I cried for days after I saw him fall that second race. He was devasted. The next Olympics he didn't even rank well. However, in 1994, after having a horrible first race, he completed the 1000 meter race for a world record. He finally got his gold medal. I remember him taking a victory lap, hold his little girl, named after his sister, Jane. That moment will always be with me.
I scored the background with a Scor-pal at 1/2" intervals. I turned the panel 90 degrees and scored it at 1/2" again. The cat was stamped onto watercolor paper and painted in with marker and an aqua pen.
Finished card size: 5" square
Total time to complete: 22 minutes.

Oh this is sooo cute, Faith! I love your diamond scored background! And that sentiment is too much! Does that mean you are the Chief Administrative Assistant for Speedy the Cat?!

I love Dan Jansen's story. I remember him taking that victory lap with his little girl. They've been replaying it on a Visa commercial and it just gives me chill bumps.
Your kitty is beautiful! Love the card!!
