FOR THE CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS:
I had to find info relating to Ronald Reagan for my card, he was my daughterÂ’s favorite president and she was so sad when he had to leave office because he was the only president she ever knew once old enough to know there was one, she was 15 when he left office. Such trauma was probably the start of those rebellious teen years!!! Not worry she came to us and is one of my best friends!
Since the stamp set doesnÂ’t give a model date for this Camaro I can best guess from the grill work that itÂ’s a 1968. It came out the same year Ronald Reagan was defeated in his run for the Republican presidential nomination. Also when he retired he enjoyed walking in parks and beaches so the car had to be set on the beach.
And here is a portion of a letter he wrote to the nation after announcing he had AlziheimerÂ’sÂ…notice the sunset statement!
“I have recently been told that I am one of the millions of Americans who will be afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease... At the moment I feel just fine. I intend to live the remainder of the years God gives me on this earth doing the things I have always done... I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead. Thank you, my friends. May God always bless you.”
I remember being on vacation when he passed away and watching the drive across country and all the thousands of people who stood roadside to pay their respects as the hearse passed byÂ…that really stood out in my mind as the sun was setting and the road was lined with people who never saw him alive but greatly admired him!
I feel like I just wrote a paper for history or government classÂ…so do I get an A?
Great challenge Wendy, really gave us something to think about while we created!
MY CARD DESCRIPTION:
-Masks were made from a sticky note for the car and sun; straight edged paper for the horizon and torn edged piece of paper for the beach then reverse pieces for the water sponging.
-I sponged the beach on first and adding some brown with a bristle stipple brush for sand definition and also going a little heavier under the car.
-The sky has three colors; yellow goes on first, real rust for the remainder of the area and rose red only at the top of the panel.
-Add some foam for the waters edge with a white gel pen.
-After removing the sun mask it was stamped with rust then I moved the stamp positioner and inked up just the tips of the image with red and stamped a second time.
-The car was colored with Prismacolor pencil, baby oil and paper stumps for blending. Shade a little more under the car and add some tire tracks.
-Designer paper was glued to cardstock, stamped with the palm tree image and cut out, then I colored the edges with black marker and glued to the card. The same procedure minus the gluing to cardstock was done for the insert.
-To keep my license plate message even on the card I build up each layer with the same amount of layers above it so the piece will lay even on the card. That image was stamped using a stamp positioner and if it isnÂ’t dark enough after the first stamping I do it as many times as needed to get the dark black coverage; this one only took two stampings.

You get an A from me, for the great atmospheric feel to this card. I remember Reagan visiting Ireland. I am pretty sure Clinton did too, but for some reason Reagan's visit is more memorable even though it was a lot longer ago. Got to love those American cars - you'd never see anything like that over here.

I cried when I read your comments about him and Alzheimer's. What a lovely tribute your card is, they are such wonderful symbols to go with the story. Beautiful card, Rox.
