My Brother asked me to make a special card for him to give to his girlfriend for Christmas, because it was to go along with the Promise Ring he was giving her. I had some things that I wanted to try (watercolour, layering this flower and making a Recessed Window card), so, I put them all together and this is what they got. They both really liked it. They are engaged now, but I donÂ’t know if the card had anything to do with that.
I stamped three flowers on watercolour paper with VersaMark and embossed them with clear EP. I used Real Red ink and the Aqua Painter to watercolour the parts of the flower that I wanted for each layer. I cut out the layers and used dimensionals to put them together. This really enhanced the layered look. I also used dimensionals to attach the flower to the card. The leaves and butterfly are stamped with Black Stazon on WW and painted with ink and blender pens. The white background has been run through the Cuttlebug and the panel inside matches.
I made some adjustments to the Recessed Window card. I wanted it to be 4 ¼ x 5 ½ when it was finished and I wanted to make a double score at the fold to allow for the recessed bit (as shown in the second photo). So I added 4 ¼ (front) + 4 ¼ (back) + ¼ (spine) and cut my paper 8 ¾ x 5 ½. I scored at 4 ¼ and 4 ½. I decided that I needed a 3 inch square for the window and measured it accordingly.
The ribbon is just to fill in the bottom space, but I decided against a bow as I didnÂ’t want to take the eye away from the flower.
I am really happy with how it turned out. I told the ladies in my stamping group that I may have to stop cardmaking now because I will never make a nicer card than this. Thanks for looking.

Your rose is stunning; the layering was a wonderful idea!! Your butterfly is beautifully colored, too!

Lois, this card is SO AMAZING! You did an awesome job. But don't you hang up your stampin' gloves yet, we know you have some more amazing cards up your sleeve and we are waiting to see them. Great job on peicing that together.
Toodles.
