I needed a card for my neighbor who is having really rough medical issues right now. He's kind of the neighborhood watch man who is ALWAYS looking out for everyone else - mowing their lawns, pulling in their garbage cans, checking on them, etc. He's was born and raised in the county and I know he has a LOVE for it. So, I had one stamp set that might work for him; but, alas, I didn't realize how hard it was to color one rooster. I spent hours today redoing this image trying to get the rooster and the background to come out right, not to mention changing from markers to copics to pencils, etc., etc. This was the best I could get it.
I decided emboss the image with my distressed stripes ef to give it more texture and I do think that had a good effect on the image. I also added crystal effect to the eggs to make them a little shiny.
I love these nesties because, to me, they always appear like you're looking out a window and I thought him looking out a window at a country scene would be comforting since he can't really leave his house much right now.
I added some more distressed stripes embossing on the main background panel, some buttons and twine. The main embossed panel, the image panel and the greeting panel are all popped up on dimensionals. This is also a 5.25 x. 5.25 square card.
Thanks for listening to my rambling, but I'm a little "card happy" right now after spending so much time on this card that I thought would be simple.
Nichole, if I have time, I'll try to case another one and make it a pretty "girlie" card okay?
Thanks so much for taking the time to look and have a wonderful Sunday!

Fruitcake, I love this card! Love the rustic elements you brought toether on this one, my friend. I love your image but most importantly, I love your intention to share it with a neighbor who's going through a tough time. It's so perfect for a male neighbor. He sounds like a gem, so he will so appreciate this. Great colors too. Just beautifully crafted, even though I dislike saying that. I know it all goes to your big head; I dont like knowing I further enhance your already huge ego! You know what I mean, I'm sure. No explanation needed here, but, if there is, jsut pull out your new techno software and do a scan.
