I used my eyelet border punch to create the red medalion, the square of red is 2 3/4 inches on each side, and the punch centered on each side to create the open work. There is just a black mat behind and a cut out heart on the center with 3 rhinestones.
I don't make many cards that can qualify as CAS but I think this one does. It also follows the challenge.

Wow very creative work on that medallion. I would have never thought of it much less had the nerve to try it. Very pretty card - love that heart with the rhinestones.

I love the things a person can do with punches (of course you already know that), and these medallions are near the top of the list. Looks wonderful. Love the scripty sentiment stamp...
