Well, for all the time that went into making this card for today's Ways to Use It Challenge (WT253--Where's the Birdie), it should have turned out as an intricate masterpiece. And, obviously, it didn't. I guess I could console myself with the thought that now that I have all the "kinks" worked out of this design (although I'm still not terribly happy with it), I could make a whole set of notecards for an owl-loving friend. Although at this point, I just want to put everything away and call it a day.
I have no dark brown ribbon, so I dyed some cheap yellow-gold ribbon with an ink pad (and then heat-set the ink) to use with this card. I have no label die cuts, and wanted one for the definition, so I fudged it by gluing half circles to each end of a rectangle to give it "tabs." And my original design idea for this card evolved (because it, and subsequent tweaks, just didn't work) so many times, I can't count. Sigh . . .
Well, thanks for looking. I hope your creation of the day was a much more satisfying experience for you!!

Sorry you had such a hard time...been there. I do love your card, though. It is beautiful in the blues and browns. I really like the definition piece and those wonderful buttons. Your hard and persistent work paid off.

Well my goodness, it doesn't look as if this had been such an uphill slog for you. Your homemade label is just wonderful - I'll have to try to remember that for non-standard sizes. And I love your colour scheme, buttons and great textured effect from this - makes me think fabrics.

I never would have guessed this gave you all those headaches, because it looks great. Espeically like the sewing and button details, and the pieced together label holder.

I just love owls and this caught my eye. LOVE that sewing and the overall vintage look of your card. The buttons are perfect. I have a drawer full of them and never think to use them.

I think you are too critical, Emily! I love the way you made the definition 'tabbed', the stitching, the buttons to mimic the owls eyes. The ribbon is fine! I like this. Look at it again later, and I think you will see how good it is!
