Hi! This card was made for today's Ways To Use It challenge: Let's Go Caroling. Participants were to use a Christmas Carol for inspiration.
I love 8 different Christmas Carols. However, "Winter Wonderland" is my favorite. I hum it from November through February...Okay, I also SING "Snow" from White Christmas...I LOVE that song...Rosemary Cloney really brought that one HOME for me! "Blue Christmas" is ALSO a MAJOR favorite...Elvis. Well, it just isn't Christmas if I haven't belted out "Blue Christmas" after a few glasses of Riesling! And, a MAJOR incident from my "teen" years caroling involved beautiful owls landing in the snow around us as we sang "Silent Night" in the church parking lot. They came and listened to us. It was very spiritual, and I have always thought of owls as "Christmas."
So, now you have it, Owl for Christmas and "Silent Night." Blue's for "Blue Christmas." Snowflakes for "Snow." And the whole thing wraps up into "Winter Wonderland." The image was stamped in Palette Noir and cut out. I sponged in Nude and Charcoal for color. The background, YumYum's Blue Eyes, was embossed with my new CB folder from HSN.

LOVE the backstory on the owls! That would have been a totally awesome spiritual experience! In traditional lore - Native American, Greek, etc. - owls are considered symbols of silent/higher wisdom and 'vision in the night', i.e., seeing and hearing more than is apparent or spoken. Awesome... Beautiful card, too, by the way!

What a great story about the owls, Faith. I wondered what Christmas carol was about owls ("whence comes this rush of wings on high..." reminds me of doves, not owls!) Great how you took all of those songs, and merged them into one card!! Tfs
