This is my busy time of the year making quilt throws for family and friends. I had just finished making my 1st rag quilt out of flannels last night but its not the size that I expected it to be...Long story, short...I didn't cut enough blocks because I ended up making a lap throw. I still liked how it came out.
The Featured Stamper is Chrisations.ink and she is a quilter as well as a great stamper. What a gallery she has...We were to choose a card and change at least 2 or 3 things to create our card. I chose this card LSC152 QUILTED VALENTINE by chrisations.ink at Splitcoaststampers because I am a quilter as well. I said to myself, hey...why not make a flannel quilt card like the quilt I just made without the raggedy edges. Worked out great!
I started out by cutting my scraps of flannel into one inch squares. I adhered them to c/s and made the pattern look like the quilt. I was having trouble with threading the needle to my sewing machine, so I decided to just use a fabric marker to make the stitching lines. The center took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to do with because of the holly leaves blending right into the fabric. I added sheer ribbon (which I got tons from a SU garage sale for 5 cents a yard) I think I have enough ribbon that can last me for quite awhile and have lots of colors too. I adhered to the black c/s as the base of the card. The holly leaves were already green, but I colored them with a light green sharpie to make it more like the green in the fabric. I added a prima flower and brad with glue dots to the ribbon. I liked how this came out but I had a hard time deciding if I needed a sentiment on it, maybe I will add it later. Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful weekend!
What do you think?
Bonnie
Things I changed:
1. size of quilt card
2. use of flannel fabric
3. stitching with a pen
4. added ribbon

Oh I sew have to CASE this! I love the flannel squares and the ribbon treatment that gives the design its *presents* hehe! AND I'm thankful you left off that heinous fiber stuff that I had going on. Why oh why did I buy so much of this stuff???? I see you have the touch of black to make the quilt pop too! Great card, Bonnie. Thank you for sharing - this one is heading into my faves!
