Mr. and Mrs. Blacken White live in a house that has no color. Only black and white. Once a year Mr. White allows his wife to add a little color by having pumpkins outside. If you want to see the full story look here: http://mothermark.blogspot.com/2009/...-my-story.html
I started this card with a piece of BLACK cardstock and two pieces of WHITE cardstock. I was telling my teenaged daughter the other night that I get so much joy taking plain white paper and making into a card that doesn't look like it did when it started. I like dp, don't get me wrong, but there is something so satisfying to me to take plain paper and make it into something beautiful.
That challenge was to make a card that expresses your thankfulness for someone or something they have done, or that encourages someone to be thankful.
I am making this for my friend at Church who is going through a really tough time. It not only was for her. I needed to be reminded to give THANKS in ALL circumstances.
Mrs. White. I bet if you look out your window you will see color. You might see a blue sky, reds, oranges, yellows on the changing leaves #if they are still on the tree# Green in the grass...
For this card I used the retiform trick. I also tried to use as many colors of ink that I could. Here is a list of the inks that I used:
sea lavender
ocean
dusk blue
leaf bud
stem green
dandelion
blue sky
lilac
mandarin orange
red chrysanthemum
pink geranium
pink dahia
black stazon

I hope I getta be the first one to comment because I want to thank you for all you did for me during the time I was gone. Hitting send now, so I can be the first, then I will come back.
Nanner, Nanner Boo! Boo! I am the first! Hee!
Anyway, MariLynn, thank you so much for taking up the challenges for me while I was away. You did a wonderful job and everyone was so happy to see you do that. I plan to get back to them at some point and see what you all did. I appreciate you! Thank you very, very much....and now your card...
I love your *white* paper. When I looked at your tutorial the other day I thought hey, I could do that! That is the sign of a good tutorial you know. This card is so beautiful and the color will certainly impress Mr. Blacken and tickled Blanca!
Big hugs girlfriend. See ya around...if you are missing tea potters look under the pillows on the couch, thats a good hiding spot!

This is so gorgeous, MariLynn! I love the beautiful retiform background and the pretty flower! The butterflies look so real! Blacken is going to be wowed by the wonderful colors and forget that he used to only have black and white!

Wow, that's some list of colours, and don't they all blend together so well. DH looked at my retirform tree and said blue and green together, they don't go. I said of course they do, you only have to look at creation!

I am so impressed with the retiform bkgrds. you have been doing and this is no exception. It highlights your sentiment so nicely.
Thank you for filling in for Cindy. I was gone for two Tuesdays but I viewed the images each week and loved the teapots you chose.

Gee, I hope Bertie doesn't get any of the pea soup she's flingin' on this beautiful card. I'll try to keep her away from ya, MariLynn. I gotta go see what this Retroform technique is cause it is lookin' groovy to me! I also find satisfaction in creating my own designer paper and don't do it as often as I should. Bertie's making me lazy.

WOW!! MariLynn this is wonderful. I bet Blanca could hang this on her wall so she will always have color even if Blacken makes her "tone down" the colors we will be a bringin.
I need to head over and look at your tutorial, this "white" DP is wonderful. TFS

Such a beautiful card, MariLynn! Your retiform technique is gorgeous! Definitely belongs on the wall as a piece of art in the Blacken home! Great card! Thanks once again for keeping us going during MM's absence!
