This is a technique we learned at SU's Regionals in Cincinnati. It is fun and easy (unless you can't find your scoring blade like me!) The tree skirt is that flocked pattern in Christmas Cocoa DSP. TFL!
ETA: I want to reiterate that I did not come up with this idea or design this technique! I believe it was Carrie Cudney of Stampin' Up! presented at regionals. If someone needs to correct me that it wasn't Carrie (or that I've spelled her name wrong, please do so).
You can find directions and more chatter on this blog post.

Great tree. And such a clever way to use a single piece of paper into something stunning. I also saw this demonstrated yesterday at a 1/2day regionals. I was so impressed with the idea.
Your tree turned out great. and the tree skirt is another spark of genius that I would expect from you.
Thanks for sharing.
