My in-laws were here last week helping my hubby paint our house. I need to make a thank you card and thought that a paint brush would be a neat card. Then I was thinking that a two-part card would be neat... pull the brush out of the can!
I had been looking for a paint brush file but hadn't found any 'at the moment' that I needed one. When all else fails, make your own file! After trying to do all sorts of tracing and all that, I decided to just create my own brush and paint can in SCAL 2 using the basic shapes. This card turned out exactly the way that I wanted it to. The brush is removed from the paint can to reveal, in this case, a gift card. I didn't think about putting notches in the brush to hold the gift card until after it was all cut out and removed from the mat. You could add the notches yourself by using the letter "c" on its side. I used the Making Memories notch punch (which was really hard for me to line up but at least I practiced some before punching the brush). The paint can has a slot in the top where the user pulls the brush out. I used a couple of Copics, Twinkling H20s and metallic rub-ons to shade everything. The label on the can was run through my printer. (I printed first on regular paper and then lined up the label over the printout, taped it on and then ran the paper through the printer again.)
I'm attaching a few photos of the card and the link below is to my 4shared account if you want to download the .scut file as well as the photos in one zipped file. The .scut file has two handles, one brush and two bands so that the brush looks the same front and back. There's also one label for the can. Each of the different shapes are on a separate page. The card fits in an 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 envelope.
