This is the very first name frame I made! It is part of a first birthday gift for our nephewÂ’s daughter. Her room is purple and I love green, purple and yellow together so Â…
I painted the unfinished wood frame with a Glaze paint called Sage which was darker than I hoped but I just couldn’t find my white acrylic paint (it’s probably in our storage unit) to dye it with Sage Shadow reinker as I planned. A trip to the craft store would have taken too much time ‘coz I can never go for “just one thing” LOL!
The insert is covered with Martha Stewart cardstock called Forest. I needed the 18x18 size to avoid having to disguise the seams where two sheets meet – I didn’t have a clear design in mind and didn’t want to work around seams.
The two patterned papers are from SU’s DSP called Tea Garden. I love mixing stripes with dots and/or flowers and the horizontal lines helped (somewhat anyway) in lining up the letters. Using the SU grid paper was invaluable for alignment and placement in this project! Each letter was put on its own “panel” but I had a hard time aligning the individual panels so I taped them together (on the back, of course, using ordinary tape). This long panel was attached to the green layer using a Duck tape runner because I was afraid I would tear it with my new GlueGlider Pro as I have only used a few times so far.
My BFF (Hi Jeanette!) cut the letters for me on her Cricut Expression. I donÂ’t recall the cartridge but we selected 2-3/4. The cardstock is a pearlescent purple IÂ’ve had stashed away for at least several months. IÂ’ll come back to edit if I find more info about the manufacturer but feel free to send a PM and IÂ’ll do my best to help.
I punched several butterflies using a Martha Stewart punch and applied Stickles glitter glue to them. The grosgrain ribbon is various widths that I layered together. The white and purple were purchased at MichaelÂ’s (might be by Morex but IÂ’m not sure). The Green is ÂĽ-inch Certainly Celery by SU. I also added some paper flowers (Doodlebug) and rhinestone accents (not sure of mfr but they were on clearance at MichaelÂ’s last week Â… see procrastination can pay off!)
Okay … it is time to get dressed and leave for the party – about 100 miles away. I hope I covered all the details but welcome any questions.
TFL and may each day have time for Â…
Happy Crafting!
