Sometimes when making my cards they start having a mind of their own and don't look at all how I pictured in my head. I was inspired by this purse: http://moynabags.com/cgi-local/SoftC...3e9+1257760772
I loved the mother of pearl pieces. I tried to make my own using acetate marker smash technique. I then stamped flourishes over than and used UTEE and my hot glue gun to make them shiny. I took black thread and sewed them to the base of the card with black thread. It looked way to empty. So I decided to draw what looked like beads on the purse onto my card. I used a white colored pencil outlined with a black colored pencil. Then it looked really ugly. I asked my teenage daughters what it needed they just laughed and said I had picked an ugly purse and what did I expect the card to look like. I decided to add hot glue pearls. That made it look a little better, but still was missing something. So I decided to add ribbon. I used my heat gun to crinkle the ribbon. Well there you have it. Not the prettiest card I have ever made, but not as ugly as it was earlier in the day!!! With the pearls though, it fits my friend Kelly's Word of the Week challenge. The word was IMPEARL which means: to form into pearls. http://ginghamgirlsadventures.blogsp...ay-take-2

This sure has an unique look to it. Love your attempt at the shiney squares the IC had. Actually, I like yours better. Love the drawn circles as beads. Love how you *impearled* you card. hehe Fantastic job MariLynn. TFS :0)

Oh I think you captured the inspiration piece very well, MariLynn! I love the crinkled ribbon and your hot glue pearls are always a favoite of mine! I do know what you mean about cards taking on a life of their own though... I have been working on one tonight I finally just walked away for a bit... need a break and it's just not working! LOL! I think this came out great!

You sure put a lot of work into this one! I can appreciate how you feel about having cards not come out like they were envisioned and having to tweak and tweak. Turns into a project instead of a card! But it was worth the effort! I will have to try making some of the mother of pearl pieces...looks like it might be kinda fun. I love your pearly accents, too....hot glue, huh? Very cool!!

I can definitely see what you were going for! I know what you mean about things not turning out like you envisioned, but I still think it's wonderful and anything handmade is worth the effort! The pearl accents are lovely. Thanks for playing along!
