Hi! This card was made for today's Ways to Use It Challenge: Sand It! Participants were to use sand in some way on their cards. Suggestions were to sand the paper or elements, use real sand, etc..
Well, as you probably know, I can NOT stand SAND! YUCK! I live 8 minutes from the beach, and I swear, I breathe it in all the time, just by walking outside! YUCK! And, our yard is practically all sand, hence my extensive garden! LOL And, Speedy the Cat doesn't like it, either, when the dogs track it in, he sits and chatters at the mess! (Maybe he's a tattle tail? Nope, I think he just can't stand the sand! LOL)
I decided to SAND my designer paper to remove the color. (You can still see part of the pattern and flowers on the right of the focal panel. I stamped the image in Espresso in the sanded area and sponged in dye based in color. I colored in the flower box with Copic Markers. I wanted to place the sentiment on the focal panel, so I sanded that area and stamped the sentiment. I used Post-it's to mask off the area so that the flourishes would fit. To finish the panel, I sponged in Espresso around the edge. I stamped the basketweave background in a dye based.

I like the way you sanded your bg paper. And I love the mahogany paper and expresso ink. Your work is always evident by those rich colors. Love the sheer ribbons also.

Beautiful card, I love the topiary! I also live just minutes from the beach and both of my kids hate the beach. My 17 yr old daughter just doesn't get why all her friends want to do is hang out at the beach!

Faith, your card has a beautiful old world feel to it. I love the topiari panel, the sponging on there is what does the trick I think. Beautiful card GF.
