Do you ever get so caught up cranking out cards that you lost sight of the one you *really* need to make for someone special, like dear hubby, and REALLY soon? I've been cranking out cards like crazy recently and totally lost sight of the fact that I need one for my DH for our 10th anniversary this Friday. This card was inspired by two other stair-step cards: my tag was copied from a label on a stair-step TLC190 anniversary card by Lynn in St Louis; the rest of my card is pretty much CASED from my first stair step card in regards to layout of the card.
Instructions for making these fun cards can be found at either one of these places: Forums at Splitcoaststampers or Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
The tag was hand lettered and cut out. The hearts on the front were punched. The hearts at the back were Sizzix die-cut (very old die) from chipboard then painted with white lumiere. The very front red panel was stamped. The metal coin-type embellishment was fancied up by stamping the hearts, coloring in with Copics, then outlining and dotting with a black Sakura Glaze Pen. I used a Copic Spica to go over the hearts across the front panel and the text on the rear panel (photo didn't capture that). The fancy punched "medallion" frame was made with circle Nestability pieces and a corner punch. That technique came from Becca Feeken, here: http://www.amazingpapergrace.com/circle-frame-tutorial/ The designer papers came out of my stash of 'old stuff'. I had to be mindful to not do things that would make this "girly" in my hubby's opinion. I hope he agrees.
