Little challenge card for my sweet friend Nancy (nwilliams6). We challenge each other monthly, and it was mine throw down this month. What was I thinking! Lol- a hand drawn main image based on a childhood memory or song. Ai yi yi! Even my stick figures are pushing the limit! I totally cheated too, cause once my 'tree' (yes, it is a tree) was done, it was sadly lacking in the leaf department, so I added my favorite lil stamp- Watercolor minis. But the trunk is hand drawn, just like the leaves I covered up! I love the things we come up with, and Nancy helps me to stretch.
This tree reminded me of the tree houses my brother Mike and I used to build when we were kids. Oh they were grand! Split level, wrap around porches, once we even 'borrowed' an extension cord from dad and had electricity to play our radio. I would decorate the 'walls' with magazine pictures and we had old carpet scraps up there too. Shhhh...we even pretended not to hear mom and dad holler for us when we were 'busy'. Lol- bad kids!
Thanks for looking! please take a look at the gorgeous card Nancy made for me this month- it is stunning!

Definitely looks like a real tree to me!!! What a beautiful card and such a great story. Love childhood stories. I wonder what some of the kids these days will have to remember....that they played on my Nintendo for a month straight.....I am sure I am showing my age since they have way more games out now. Love the card my dear friend. Thanks for the smile.
hugs,
ps - a radio, carpet and wallpaper in your treehouse. you have always been creative!!! I bet you were playing country music too!!

Pat there ain't nothin wrong with this tree. Its beautiful, trunk and all!! What sweet memories it invoked too. Me and my two brothers built tree houses all the time. Ours were made out of trashed pallets. That was just about all the wood we could find that was light enough for us to drag to the creek, dismantle and drag up the tree. We decorated just like you did and even made furniture and appliances with cardboard boxes. Instead of hammering boards to the tree for climbing up in, we'd just use a rope swing with knots tied in it. Little Sister Debra burned both hands real bad one time when she tried swinging on the rope to get into the tree house. We actually called ours a tree "fort" instead of a tree "house". It sounded "tuffer". Yes, we were 4 little heatherns but we had a good time too. You know, your card sure recalled some precious memories for me too. Muchas gracious mi Amiga!

Great hand drawn tree Pat. I love that you and Nancy challenge yourselves, I think that is soooooooooo cool. I love your layout with the cut out exposing the BG color. That's a great idea. Love it, into my faves.

I wish everyone could see this card in person because while you took an excellent picture of it - it is so much cooler in person. The fact that you put so much of yourself into the card makes it unbelievably special - we should all try to hand-draw a little more on our cards probably. By the way, where do you get watercolor minis - I definitely need some?
