Instead of a card, I made a scrap book page for a project for the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges. This is a family portrait of my husbandÂ’s fatherÂ’s family taken shortly after their arrival is America in 1909. Pictured are my husbandÂ’s grandparents, Helen and Marcus, his father, Nathan, and his aunts, Sally, Henny (Henrietta), and Rosalie (Lea).
Included in the lay-out is a reproduction of the passenger manifest for the SS Slavonium, wnhich arrived in New York on May 8, 2009, when his father was 2-1/2 years old, and a portion of the familyÂ’s application for citizenship. The lay out is made on a piece of embossed card stock and the texture adds to the vintage feel. I used die cut corners to embellish the photograph, which is matted on several layers of card stock and patterned paper trimmed with a lace edge punch. Edges of the documents were distressed and then both the documents and the lace were inked with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.
Paper: Black embossed card stock (#16753 Vine Black, manufacturer unknown); Tan card stock (The Paper Company); Patterned paper is a scrap of paper from my “stash” – manufacturer unknown.
Accessories: Vintage corner dies (Cuttlebug); Lace Edge Punches (EKSuccess, Fiskars); Die Cut “W” (Cricut)
