One of my favorite pieces of music is an arrangement by Peter Lutkin of “The Lord Bless You and Keep You”. The lyrics, a verse from the Book of Numbers, is also known as “The Rabbi’s Prayer” and is recited at Jewish religious observances and celebrations. In our home, we use it during our Shabbes blessings when he have our Shabbat dinner on Friday evenings. After the Rabbi recited it in Hebrew at the close of our wedding ceremony, my husband, two of my sons, my cousin, and I sang Lutkin’s arrangement for four voices in English.
A friend of mine underwent surgery this week and I wanted to make her a very special get well card. I used the sketch (turned on its side) and the biblical verse to create a card that I knew would have meaning for her.
This card is a non-traditional size (6 inches high and 8 inches wide) which means a surcharge at the post office and a large bubble wrap envie, but I used a DTGD challenge sketch and needed to make it large enough for the stamps I chose to be in the correct proportions for size. I completed the inside of the card with the verse and a place to write a brief note.
This card meets a total of 4 DTGD challenges: non-traditional size, use of punches (for the lace embellishment), theme based on a song, and a sketch challenge
