Well, I like the idea of using sea images (boats, palm trees, shells, lighthouse) for this technique. I don't have a lot of these type of stamps. So with this card I was trying to recreate a card I posted earlier using a brayered background.
It didn't turn out the same, although the watercoloring looks pretty neat. I could imagine using this background for a Halloween scene, e.g. spooky house on a hill. But why didn't my salt crystals show up more? Not enough water? When I tilt the card, it is overloaded with salt residue, so I am not quite sure... hmmm....

The colours you chose for your card are absolutely beautiful...nice combination for fall or Halloween, like you said. And as for the salt, I'm thinking that your ink wasn't wet enough when you threw the salt on....I had that issue with some of my trial runs, and that seemed to be the problem. Nonetheless, it is lovely.
As with cooking up any dish, we get better every time! I'm so glad that you played along!

I think this would have been awesome BG for Pat's Sunset ATC swap! It's what the colors make me think of when I look at your very nice card.
It's been waaay too long when I did thsi technique but I do recall giving teh salt a spritz after putting it on the wet ink ... is that the missing trick?
