HEY, Ms. Mothermark, I am up WAY past my bedtime to post my card so as not to be late to the party again!
I am utterly delighted that we are visiting botonical gardens in Sabrina's part of the world! (Hi, Sabrina, I'm here!) Botonical gardens sing to me just like the birdies on that charming teapot!
This card was a grand experiment for me, but made with much love. I agree with Cindy about the sheer terror that strikes when we hear the word "technique"! I was attempting to make a card with the re-inker puddle technique, but I couldn't exactly remember all the steps from when a friend related it to me several months ago.
Let's just say that I did it all wrong and that I have a lot of practicing to do!
The rose was stamped in gold embossing powder and colored with reinkers. The scalloped ovals were done on the CE. I barely got the background texture dp to punch with a border punch. The edges on the gold paisley dp were hand cut with scallop scissors since the handmade paper wouldn't cut with any of my punches. I did some faux stitching with paper piercing and a gold gel pen and I'm calling it a card.
The shimmer of the papers or embossing doesn't show up very well. Except on the butterfuly which looks like I poorly embossed it. That reflection is from the sparkle in the purple gel pen, thank you very much!
Cindy, can I tell you that I adore you and your challenge so much that I would go through all this angst for one little ol' stinkin' card that didn't even turn out so well?!!!! LOL
For all my joshing, it's great fun to join the tea party! Be sure to check out Mothermark's link here: http://mothermark.blogspot.com/ and join the fun.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

You are very brave joining in the tea party, great result regardless of how "correct" your technique was, love the big flower and the border punching, looks great!

What do you mean, M, that this didn't turn out so well! Now, I know that is not a technique I will be trying because I have built up a grand total of 5 reinkers, but that rose looks just beautiful to me. And the leaves, too.
I think I have to make another card with birds - but I must have given away my diecut doves in a recent purge.
A tip on punching those fancy papers with punches - if you use thin copy paper folded over the fancy paper (so you have copier paper, fancy paper, copier paper), you stand a good chance of getting a fair result. Of course this only works with thin fancy papers, or even thin copier paper makes the whole thing too thick. But I am determined to be able to punch leaves from my fancy papers . But when you can cut scallops that well by hand, you don't need that tip. Yikes - got to go and rescue the washing from the rain.

This is gorgeous. I love the way this TRICK looks on your rose. The different shades really give it dimension. I love the handmade paper that you used. The gold is so elegant.

Oh my! Your technique (I mean *trick) is perfection! I love that you labored to put this beautiful rose on a card. Not too long ago we did that pooling ink thingy on a card at stamp class. I can also do an okay job at stamp class but then when I get home and am alone and have to remember what we did I can't do it! Snort!!!
Your card is beautiful and I am so happy you got to come M, early even! Thanks so much for the kind words, I admire your determination in getting this *one little ole stinkin' card put together! A stinkin' little card it is not! Its awesome being in Dublin, huh!!
