Wow, there was some choice for the IC this morning. I spent a long time looking, and tried bleaching a peacock for the Charles Scribner poster. Didn't turn out to well, so I resorted to the trusty chef, based on this and several other posters. It's also partly inspired by a conversation when we were out the other night visiting a French friend. Another mutual friend was there - she too is French and grew up in Paris but her parents are Tunisian, so have an Arabic slant on things. And she had brought a friend from Bari, Italy. There was disagreement between the two French women about whether the melon should be served as a starter or dessert, and the Italian thought that serving cheese as a dessert course as in France and England just didn't make sense.
I stamped the chef on some white watercolour paper, and drew in the borders. I masked the chef and borders and stamped En Francais with Versamark, and then chalked that portion of the background. Removed the masks and painted in the borders and any other details that needed painting.
Quick and simple because my neck and back are atrociously sore, either from shopping in town yesterday or sitting awkwardly at a BBQ last night.
Thanks for such a great challenge, Stef. I still have some black and white photos open wondering whether to do something a la Ansel Adams, and I loved seeing those Chagall posters - reminded me of my second visit to Paris as a teenager and visiting the Pompidou Centre.

Sabrina, I love how your little chef turned out. It was also interesting to read about the discussion. It is so funny to see the differences between cultures isn't it.

Superb!! (note the French accent there!) It's plain to see how you were inspired by your inspiration poster. I love the text background, and that's so cool how you created the borders. They are perfect!! Wonderfully fun card. Great job on the challenge!!
