This card is my entry for today's Limited Supplies Challenge (LSC227), to use only digital images and/or diecuts for a card.
This challenge was definitely challenging for me, but I learned so much!! First, I don't have any means of making die cuts, just some punches (which I used) and a few circle/oval cutting templates. Second, I know nothing (or, rather, *knew* nothing) about digis, so I spent a lot of time researching free sources and methods for coloring, etc. Since I didn't have any supplies for prepping a digital image for coloring with markers (and my supplies in this category are *definitely* limited), I decided to stick with colored pencils.
I found a GREAT source of free, predominantly vintage-looking digis at http://etc.usf.edu/clipart/sitemap/sitemap.htm . Great stuff here! Loved the botanicals, but there are scads of categories here (history, transportation, decorative alphabets, furniture, tools, animals, architecture, and more) and I could have looked for hours!! These images reminded me of woodcuts and old-fashioned book illustrations.
Then I learned about digital paper, and decided to use digi DP as my background. Found some lovely free black & white patterned paper at The Angel Company website. ( http://www.theangelcompany.net/Downloads_BWPaper09.html )
Finally, like I said, I don't have any die cuts and am always envious of people's beautiful card designs using the top note die cut. I stumbled across a great collection of digital templates for pretty "labels" that can be printed out on cardstock or DP and then cut out by hand--looks just like "top note" to me!! Found these here: http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2008/1...templates.html
So, most of the elements of my card are digital. I'm so proud!! (I cut the photo corners by hand.) As stipulated in the challenge, I used NO stamping. I printed out my sentiment using French Script font. I used only two embellishments (again, as stipulated): some yellow repurposed tulle down the center of the card (I tied it off into gathered sections with thread). It's kinda hard to see in my photo, though. My second embellishment (I'm counting this as one) is a pair of silver brads.
Oh, I printed sentiments for inside the card, too. On the left panel it reads "It is probable that the lemon is the most valuable of all fruit for preserving health. ~ Maud Grieve: A Modern Herbal (1931)." On the right panel it reads "Wishing you good health and much happiness in the coming year."
Sorry this is long--I just wanted to share what I learned about the world of digis today!! That was fun! And I found a great source of free digi images that I'll probably come back to again and again.
Thanks for looking!
Emily

Had to take a digital field trip to the sites you listed in your description!! What wonderful resources you have discovered. The one with all the clip art will be useful for stamping and for using with my students at school!! Thanks so much for sharing your research!! And your card is beautiful!! Love the paper you used with the lemon image!!! Fantastic job!!
