At the tea-party today Cindy could see the light, so I thought what better card to make than a stained glass one! I haven't done one of these since I used to mind a friend's two children for her, but I still have lots of stained glass paper that I bought in Paris about four years ago. Chartres or Notre Dame this is not, but I thought I could manage the cornflower from that lovely teapot-light, to go with the cornflowers that are in the Rooibos tea I am bringing along today. Really, truly - a South African lady in work gave it to me yesterday, and it has blue cornflowers in it .
Boy, was this a challenge to photo. Natural light wasn't showing through. The first torch I found, the battery was flat. The second one - I had it balanced on my cell phone to direct the light at the right angle, and then DH rang to say it was time to put the coffee on, and the vibrations knocked the torch off the wall...
A2 base, with a scalloped oval window cut in it. The front is from Basic Grey's Porcelain, also with a scalloped window cut in it. I adapted a cornflower design from an embroidery source book, and cut it out from two sheets of white card. I stuck the window paper in between the two layers and then stuck them together. Before mounting onto the card base I added a bit of a watercolour wash with blue and green. Then I stuck this panel in between the card base and the DP front. Distress green Stickles for the stem, and lots of Liquid Pearls just to pick up the colours from that pretty Hearts-Ease on the teapot. I had to add stitching lines around the cornflower to draw it together, so I also added them round the border of the card and round the scallop. My Fleur-de-Lys corners were made by using a decorative corner punch, and then using a 1" circle punch to trim the corners out, if you follow.
Off to find my prescription sunglasses as I prepare to be dazzled by all the other light creations.

Sabrina, congratulations on winning Kelly's candy!! I love how your stained glass looks. What a great creation. I love how the light looks coming through the coneflower. I wish I could have seen a video of you photographing your card. It sounds like some of the adventures that I have. I think I saw some little lightning bugs fly over to your card because the light was so pretty. After searching your garden last week looking for bugs, I am afraid that this week when you aren't looking, you will find them!! HUGS!

OMG! I see the light! Your photo is wonderful and your hard work and persistance in getting the perfect photo paid off cuz you did! It truly is wonderful! Stained glass is perfect for our teaparty! Such an elegant card!
How fun that your friend brought you some cornflower tea! Can you take the cornflowers out of it and put them on a card! Giggle! Just joshing! Although I might honestly try that if they were pretty! Hee!
I love your description of your card and the detail you put into it! What a creative way to do your corners too! I learned something today, I am following you girlfriend!
Thanks for coming Sabrina and congrats on Kelly's stamp set! Whoo hoo! See ya next week, or sooner

My, oh, my is this ever a BEAUTY, Sabrina! I can see the light! I really can!
I told MariLynn to save me some chocolate cause I can't play until after work. Being the refined lady you are, would you be certain to check on her occasionally? I would hate to think of anyone getting rough with MariLynn over the chocolate (especially Bertie!) Thanks!

Tea with cornflowers and chocolate dessert. Be still my heart! Love the stained glass effect. Sometimes the photography is harder than the making of the card.

Things we do for a perfect picture huh! Guess this was a good one, because your card looks great Sabrina. I love the stain glass papers. Love the blue of course! The corners and the pattern in your paper. Good rooibos tea. Soelah, my sister in Vancouver introduced me to it last time I saw her. Loved it, and keep buying it, reminds me of her now that she's gone.
Ooops, sorry, your card deserves an A+. Here, I gave it to you! Love it. Hugs, goodnight!
