After making a flowerpot card for Mother's day, I was having trouble figuring out what to make for my dad that would be equally as cool. After seeing this wonderful card by SophiaMom, I had my inspiration for a trishutter card (also the TLC221 challenge).
The instructions for the cuts and folds can be found on the TLC link above. It really is super simple to make!
I stamped that wonderful Clear Dollar Stamps ship stamp onto PTI rustic white cardstock, colored it with prismacolors & baby oil (ginger root for the sails, jade green for the ocean), and cut it out with nestie label one. Since I only wanted a small border, I used the same nestie die, traced around the outside edge of it, and cut it out with a craft knife (thanks to the wonderful SCSer who came up with that tip!). The ship wheel were also colored with prismacolors, and the blank nestie is for my personal note. The edges of each cardstock piece were also inked.
The middle sentiment I printed on my computer using Freebooter font (from dafont.com). The top and bottom are rub-ons from Autumn Leaves and American Crafts, both found at Big Lots. The only problem is that it was a little late last night, so I didn't even think about the fact that those layers would be seen from the front of the card when it's folded up, so the Enjoy and stars are cut off a bit by the image panel. Doh! But knowing my dad, it will not be folded up for long.
