The LSC yesterday was to use only blues, greens, greys and neutrals. We must use piercing, brads and ribbon/fibre. Other embellishments were optional. I didn't get to play yesterday - had to go to bed for a couple of hours. Today I've combined it with the Central Theme and Sketch for the monthly DD theme.
I enjoyed the DD gallery but found it hard to find my own inspiration, being more of a tomboy. So this is in memory of my mother. She believed strongly in integrity as a person, being yourself, true to your principles, so on. She gave me my love for all things creative, music, reading and gardening. She was far more politically active and aware than I am, working for civil liberties back in the seventies, working with illiterate adults (but I do ALWAYS vote). When I was about 10, I had an autograph book. I don't have it any more, and I don't even remember what she wrote in it herself; although I associate this quotation from Shakespeare with her I can't be sure. But I do remember that my teenage half-brother wrote *Time is Money*, and she was so horrified at the values that portrayed that she made him cross it out and write something else. The only other autograph I remember was the principal from the small 3-teacher primary school I attended. I had her for two years, and got on well with her though I know many didn't. She was a passionate believer in academic excellence and was always pleased to hear how well I was doing in secondary level. But she knew from personal experience that cooking was my first love, and any time I visited her through the years she always asked me was I still keeping it up, and never expressed any criticism of cooking as my choice of career. This was the verse that she wrote:
Three things there are that never come back;
The arrow shot forth on its destined track,
The appointed hour that could not wait,
And the helpful word that was spoken too late.
So I suppose this in memory of two women who influenced me..
The base is 5 3/4" square, covered with embossed Core'dinations and edged with a gold pen. I stamped the flower from Doodle This with green ink on green card, cut them out, added gems in the centres and pierced round the gems. The sentiment was computer generated, cut with Labels 1 and stamped with the swirl from Doodle This. The blue layer was also stamped with the swirl. I added a brad - no idea who it's by, it was a RAK, and some ribbons.

Such beautiful thoughts and memories. Funny thing, I had to lie down yesterday, too. Anyway, I love how you used the Doodle set (soon to be retired) and I can't believe you can outline in gold and keep it straight! I guess I shake too much or something! Lovely card and such sweet thoughts!!

Nice job with the challenge colors and the brad with ribbon made a perfect finish.
I enjoyed your story, I too was a tomboy and still am but what made me laugh is the 'Time is Money' phrase...when I was boss (boss - a job didn't enjoy) over some teens during my landscape days they were not at all enjoying the job and tried to relax far to often so I would tell them "come on guys time is money in the business world". Your mother would scold me a good one but I bet my boss liked me for saying it! Thanks for sharing the story!

Oh my Sabrina, you got me almost tearing up here. I love your card, the saying and the beautiful way you have of putting a card together, but gee, the story itself, is inspiring. Thanks for sharing your he-art! hugsxo
