This card is for my parental's anniversary. It started as another clean and simple card for this week's pink, kraft & other color challenge...but I think it's just a little bit too ROM (run-of-the-mill) for me to label it as such! I did use the Clean and Simple Stamping Fall-to Layout 27.
I started with 5.5x5.5 Baja Breeze base, then added the Parisian Breeze dp. The Sweet Blush strip I punched using Martha Stewart's Scallop Valentine punch, saving two of the punched hearts to add to either side of the sentiment.
The Baja Blue strip is when I brought out a new toy: I picked up the Spellbinder's Flower Impressabilities at a scrapbook show last week. I inked it with PTI Vintage Cream, then sent it through the cuttlebug (A/shim/B/mat/cardstock/Impressability/B). It adds a nice subtle letterpress look to it that the camera just couldn't capture.
I stamped the tree with chestnut chalk ink, the birds with memento cocoa, and the sentiment with azure chalk ink. I wanted the tree to be a bit darker, so I went over it with a brown prismacolor pencil. I also used my stardust pen to add some glitz to the hearts. The birds I colored with Muted Turquoise & Pink Rose pencils, doing just a little blending with baby oil to soften the pencil lines.
The image square & matting were all cut using nesties and attached with popdots. I inked the edges of all the papers with Colorbox Creamy Brown. I then sewed around the outside edge. Yes, the Janome did go through 4 sheet of paper for the matting, but I did do that part using the hand wheel instead of the foot pedal for a little bit more control.
