Congrats to Lisa for hosting her first challenge as a member of the Design Team at Clear Dollar Stamps!! Yay!!
Ok... this REALLY was a challenge for me, because the ONLY image I had to work with from CDS was this antique phone from Ageless Antiques. And the colors Lisa chose are Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, and Pink Passion. Such bright pretty fun colors.... totally not what I would use for this antique phone!
I knew I wanted to somehow use a page from the phone book on this card. I cut out the work "hello" with Quickutz, then sponged around the word, then removed the letters. So it was like using a stencil. The whole card has alot of sponging and distressing to give the aged look. The background was made with a piece of screen. I inked up the screen, then layed the piece on it. I think this helped tone down the bright colors.
I used gold brads for the "eyes" on the phone. I wasn't sure if I wanted to cover up the ones on the image, because they have such personality. But I thought the brads would just be a different personality, so I went with it, since the challenge had gold in it. I dabbed a little black stazon on the brads to kinda tone them down. The paper clip also has black stazon.
I had fun with it, and I'm pretty happy with the result. The page from the phone book ended turning out pretty much how it looked in my head.
TFL!!

Kris! You really stepped up on this one. Wow. I am impressed. You make me laugh with your screen, I mean it is a fantastic idea, but I don't have any screen laying around. You are so resourceful. I just love that you used the phonebook. I would never have thought of that. I love the brads for the bells of the phone, that's perfect. I love the hello. You panels with the screen BG are great. Great coloring. I love the paperclip too. Awesome card GF.
