I finally made a card for Alicia Weiman's little boy, Ethan! You can read about him and his battle with cancer, here.
My intent was to finish it right after I made his sister and his parent's cards, but it just didn't seem to come together how I wanted it to.
Finally, I had an idea of what I wanted to do with the horse image I bought just for his card. I came home and put it together in no time! Well, that's not true...it does take a little while to die-cut the letters and their shadows...not to mention coloring the horse three times until it was "good enough" :O)
Card Details:
I stamped the horse with Black Staz-On ink on watercolor paper, and colored it with watercolor pencils and an aqua painter. I stamped the trees in Black Staz On, punched a 3/4" circle out of a post it note and stuck it just behind and above the large tree. I then sponged the yellow around my "sun", and overlapped it just slightly by sponging with light blue ink. I was careful when I sponged around the horse, but I honestly think it resisted the ink...not sure :O) When the sky was done, I sponged the ground. I removed the post it circle and tada! I had a glowing sun :O)
The fence stamp came in the same set the horse did. I stamped it on darker (thinner) kraft paper, cut it out, and adhered it.
For the tag, I used rub on letters to spell out "cowboy" then stamped the sentiment above it. I cut out the letters and shadows using my Sizzix and the Graffiti alphabet. I use my sticker maker to adhere the letters. I found that with the different shapes and sizes, this is the easiest way to make them stick and prevent the edges from lifting.
I think that about sums it up! Thanks for looking! If you're interested, check out my blog, Mindless Creativity :O)

Kristin: I just now saw your most recent card here. This is SO CUTE!!! I know that Ethan will LOVE his card. Love the sentiment, his name and that fence is fantastic with the horse. He will truly appreciate your time and effort. The sun in the b/g is fantastic also! Great job! TFS!
