I have given up. This sounded like an easy peasy challenge but it has beaten me! This is probably my fourth try and I just decided that come heck or high water I was going to post it. So, challenge police, take me away..........details.........
I did the whole gesso thing on several magazine pages, I even did plain cs with writing on it. Ended up using a piece of newspaper with the gesso on it. This was the easy part putting the gesso on.
Then I stamped with versa mark and clear ep my Clear Dollar Stamp set sunflower song. Could hardly see them on the paper.
Started putting the ink on and it just wouldn't go on proper. So after several sponging attempts, I colored in parts with re-inkers. Still wasn't looking right. My ink just wouldn't dry on top of the gesso, so I clear ep the whole image. But then you really couldn't see anything.
So I took Stazon ink and stamped on top of the images because I knew this ink would dry. Should have used it in the first place. Oh well.
Tore the image out of the paper making a raw edge so I could sponge color on it. Put it on black cs that I took moonlight white to the edges.
On my white card, I randomly brayered different colors, then put my layered image on top. Well, I at least get points for sticking with it don't I? I know it doesn't look anything like the others in the gallery.....believe me I tried!!!...............TFL :0)

I think it's a fabulous attempt too. The photo here sure makes it look nice in my opinion... I like how you sponged the edges of the torn piece and I like the look of the background too!

It might have been a failure of the technique as advertised, but no way is it a failure as a card. It sings that summer is coming, and warmth, and sunshine. My sunflowers have just germinated, a long wait till they are as lovely as this.
Hmmm - I was planning a second try today using a non-silhouette stamp. I wonder should I reconsider when I read of your travails.

Cathy, I love this card. I think you may have failed to make your card look like all the others, oh wait, that is a good thing. I think you may have created a new technique. Yours looks like a watercolored collage. I think that is what you should call your new technique. Weeks from now you will have others going, that is so hard how in the world could she do it?
