For mothermarks teapot tuesday..inspired by her fruit teapot:Welcome to Teapot Tuesday #41 by Mothermark at Splitcoaststampers . This was the only stamp i had with fruit on it..never used and probably wont use again unless someone can give me some advice how best to use it!
Its a large stamp and I found it difficult to get a perfect impression without missing bits or getting ink smudge!
I have uploaded one of the stamped impressions (uncolored) hoping someone out there has any tips.
I have since turned this `portrait` into a fruit pot (also uploaded to mmtpt41)

Shirley, the color you put to this is wonderful. It really is a pretty image and I bet its really fun to color. I have had some luck when stamping with large stamps to place the paper on a spongy surface and then stamp so that the paper sorta gives with the stamp. You know those sorta foamy pad thingys that Michaels has or some craft stores, that's what I am talking about! I have an bright orange one, its about 1/4 inch thick. You might try it!
After you put the color to it though, you can't really tell the image is less than perfect!

I'm glad to see the full stamp as well as the fruit pot version. It's the sort of stamp I'd run a mile from because of all that colouring. The leaves and apple look especially good.
Big stamps, as Cindy said you can stamp on something like mouse mat. Sometimes what I do is ink the stamp, place it ink-side up on my desk, carefully lay the card on top and then brayer over it. Then carefully lift your card up again. This works well for me, you just have to be careful not to jog the card.
