This is a wooden Cross I altered for my 2 & 1/2 yr old son. It is for his Easter basket but the idea is for him to have it always. I painted the cross, used scrapbook paper, sanded on the sides, added more paint, some stamping ink, sealed it and then added the verse.
DH and I think it needs something else but he says no ribbons to keep it masculine. Ideas?

Maybe you could add some texture?? My parents distressed their farmhouse kitchen cabinets by laying nails on their side and giving them a little tap with a hammer. The nail theme would work here, don't you think! Although, with the paper layer on top . . . hmmm?
Very cool idea for the Easter basket, btw! Your son will really treasure this.

Thank you for your reply. I think the nail thing is a great idea but yes with the paper I am not sure. Now it does have a tiny bit of texture with the different paints but I see what you mean, it needs more.....hmmmmmmm

i think it's perfect as is. i found a wood cross at HL this morning. i wanted to make a centerpiece at my new grandson's baptism party (my cross is on a base so it stands up). thanks for the inspiration.
