We were invited to visit Glenda Mosher's art gallery (RobinRingtail) for our inspiration today.
My, there were some lovely paintings. DH came downstairs after having come up to check the time in Oz on my PC, and commented on the lovely pictures he had seen, and how he'd been careful to open a new tab so as not to lose them.
Well, I woke up with a sore throat, and I'm just about to head back to bed for a couple of hours, so while this card was inspired by the first thumbnail Anne shared with us in the challenge thread, I can't say it's a very inspired card.
I had fun on Thursday using Faux Batik. There was a scrap of it left on the table, and I tried painting the white bits and it worked beautifully. So off I set, stamped my image in Versamark, clear embossed, sprayed with dilute re-inkers just like on Wednesday. But when I ironed the embossing out, it wasn't as good as Wednesday. And when I tried painting over the white bits, it didn't look as good as the scraps I'd tried earlier.
But it does give a very arty effect, which I didn't think I could achieve in a million years when I looked at the IC this morning, and thought I could use not feeling great as an excuse for skipping it today .
Thanks Anne, and thanks Glenda. I loved many of them, would have liked to try something with the grass or the poppies, but stuck to what was easy for today.
The base card is 5 3/4" square.
The main image is more or less faux batik. I used Japanese silk tissue paper, and after I'd ironed the EP out of it, I painted over the white areas with H2Os. I tore the edges to make a square around the same size as my base card. I took another square of card the same size as the base, sponged the edges with brown and stitched the stamped image on. Surprised to discover I had brown thread, and luckily I had left the right needle loose on my machine to remind me that a ball-point needle was in it, and that it was set for sewing stretch fabric. Otherwise that would have been yet another thing to go wrong.
TFL. The photo doesn't show the sheen and shimmer from the silk paper or the H2Os...

Sabrina, this is gorgeous!! I love that we are gallery neighbors. Although my flowers look a little too busy compared to yours. I love the stitching. The texture of the faux batik looks fabulous!!!!

are you KIDDING??? NOT inspired?! This is beautiful, like the paintings that inspired it--beautiful flowers, gorgeous technique (it does look shimmery) and awesome sewing, if this is what you do when sick I cannot imagine what you do when you are "on"!
