This card is one of a three card series of Artist Trading Cards (ATC’s) was made for a swap I signed up for hosted by an artist in Great Britain. Since these cards are so small, it’s sometimes hard to find the image you want in a size that is proportionate for the small canvas (2.5 by 3.5 inches). I have found some wonderful sites on the Internet where there are coloring pages available for download, free for personal use. I can resize an image to the size I need, print it on card stock, paint it, and cut it out. For this series, I used fairies drawn by artist Phee McFaddell and paired them other stamped images and a variety of backgrounds and embellishments. Materials are for the entire series; “How to’s” are for the individual cards.
Fairy #2 – “Spring Violets”
Fairy from a coloring page available on-line was watercolored. Wings and hair decoration and dress painted with iridescent medium. Several images printed and leaf fronds painted and cut out separately. Mushrooms and violets stamped with Vintage Sepia, watercolored and cut out.
Pearl and Stream alcohol inks streaked on glossy paper then glossy paper layered onto three layers of finely textured sage green card stock; fairy, fronds and mushroom image pieced and glued in place. Card edged with violet colored glitter.
Stamped frame with handwritten identifying information for card and artist signature added to back of card.
