Hi! This card was made for the Limited Supply Challenge: Stretch Yourself. Participants were to use at least 2 items on their card that they don't usually use/do.
Speedy the Cat and I have a very good friend named Cora. Cora is an artist. Currently, she is a GOURD artist. She creates ANIMALS and things out of GOURDS! Now, Cora is 76 years old...She's from a time when EVERYTHING was used, and NOTHING was trash. So, when she gets gourds, she cuts them open and USES the "guts" to make paper! She throws the membranes, seeds, linen and water into a blender and makes pulp. She dries the pulp on screens and then sells the paper.
Things for my stretch:
I do use Gourd Guts paper, but I have NEVER watercolored on it before!
I left the paper in the shape I recieved it, no cutting.
Very few layers!
I added dots, but I went around the ragged edges and really did the Shabby Chic "thing."
The image was stamped in VersaMark and embossed in Gold. I used SU! markers to color in the image and then an aqua painter to blend. It was cut out and adhered with foam tape.
I edged the black base with gold paint pen! (Thanks, NancyRuth for that idea!)
